Product application
-> Back to the technical manual
PRECAUTIONS :
- Alkaline product which should be handled whilst wearing gloves and goggles.
- Protect painted, glass and tiled substrates, as well as light alloys (aluminium, chrome, copper, zinc, etc.). In the case of accidental splashes, rinse immediately with water.
- In the case of artificial stone, do not leave excess product on the surface, therefore avoiding any white crystallisation.
- Always test on a small hidden portion of the substrate before applying.
- Do not dilute or mix with another product.
- Do not apply on organic, metallic and waterproof materials.
- Do not apply during rain, and when temperature is < 5°C or > 30°C.
- Keep in a dry place (between 5°C and 30°C).
- Storage: 24 months following the production date when kept in the original unopened container.
APPLICATION
Substrates that are damp, crumbly, subject to saltpetre, floury or with traces of efflorescence:
- Use a low-pressure spray unit.
- Remove traces of saltpetre or efflorescence at the surface.
- Dilute the product (1 volume of Mineralisant Guard and 1 volume of water).
- Spray 2 applications of the product with a 1 hour interval, until saturation is achieved.
- Optimal effectiveness obtained after 2 to 15 days of drying.
Capillary and saltpetre rise or very damp substrates due to water penetration:
- The treatment is carried out by injection.
- At the base of the wall to be treated, holes are drilled in staggered rows every 30 cm maximum between 30° and 40° towards the bottom, and up to 2/3 of the wall's thickness. In the case of very thick walls, the treatment must be done on both sides.
- Inject the product in each hole until saturation, and then fill with cement to which is added 3% or 5% of Mineralisant Guard.
- Run water in order to ensure that no hole has entered a cavity. In the case of a cavity, fill it with a mixture of cement and the product, and drill again after 24 hours.
- Optimum effectiveness obtained after several weeks of drying, depending on the wall's composition.
Treatment against concrete screed acids:
- Use a low pressure spray unit.
- The surface must be dry.
- Spray 2 applications of Mineralisant Guard at a 4 hour interval up to saturation.
- Optimum effectiveness obtained after 2 to 7 days of drying
MAINTENANCE
If a salt trace appears at the surface, brush off with a scrubbing brush 5 to 8 days after application. Render and coatings can be applied 30 to 60 days after the removal of salt residues. In order to complete the treatment and prevent new ingress of water at the surface, finish with a ProtectGuard FT protection treatment.APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
Use a low-pressure spray unit or injection treatment.
